The practice of assigning gemstones to symbolize the month of birth is literally hundreds of years old.  Many individuals who purchase our key pendants choose the gemstone for their month of birth.  On the other hand, don't feel obligated to wear a color you dislike!  Also keep in mind that the list of birthstones has changed multiple times over the years, so don't be surprised if you see a list that is different than you thought you remembered.  We've put together  a list of the genuine gemstones , along with some alternatives commonly used.  A synthetic gemstone will be a similar color, but will not be a natural gemstone.

January:  Garnet

February:  Amethyst

March:  Aquamarine

April:  Diamond

May:  Emerald

June:  Alexandrite/ Smoky Quartz/ Pearl

July:  Ruby

August:  Peridot

September:  Sapphire

October:  Pink Tourmaline/ Opal

November:  Citrine

December:  Blue Zircon

The approximate colors of the synthetic gemstones used in our key pendants are shown below.  All months are shown, in order, except for April, which is white (we use Cubic Zirconia).  Please remember that different computer monitors will show slight differences in color.
